WEEK ONE:
No explanation needed. The title says it all.
To start off this nifty little thang, I'll use my favorite quote ever ever ever.
" I will not be labed as average. "
- Rachel Joy Scott
BAM.
Hits ya right in the gut, right?
Well there it is ladies and gents.
See ya next week on.. QUOTE O' THE WEEK! :D
-----------------------------------
WEEK TWO:
For those of you who are frequenting this blog ( And I'm sure you're out there. You're just choosing to keep your identities concealed. Like Batman.
Along with any evidence that you have in fact visited The Bookworm Chronicles ) , I apologize dearly for my failure in updating this weekly, as promised. Fear not though, because the Lemonader ( that's me ) is back in action. :D
***As a side note, I've made an executive decision to leave quotes up from previous weeks because even though they may be old, they never cease to inspire.
Alright ladies and gents, the moment you've all be waiting for... the new.. QUOTE O' THE WEEK!
( brought to you by Lemon & Co. )
This one comes with a little explanation.
* sigh * * gasp * * eye-rolling *
I feel like the teacher who just said that your Christmas Vacation comes with a little *insert your least favorite subject here* packet.
But i'll keep it brief. I pinky promise. ( Just wrote that with my pinky. To make it legitimate. Not an easy feat, i assure you. )
This quote is by the great Eleanor Roosevelt, one of the most influential human rights activists perhaps ever to live. She played a huge role in the publication of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and worked with the United Nations for approximately seven years, besides being First Lady to the United States of America .
In the quote I'm about to present to you, she speaks of that ultimate goal, the never ending quest, and the loftiest of dreams : peace.
It's a term we throw about, a symbol we wear upon our shirts and on our back pockets.
It something that, truthfully, sounds pretty good to most of us. In the same way that a grilled burger ( or veggie burger ) on a summer day sounds pretty good .
For some of us, it's a belief. For other it's something to scoff at.
Yet how many of us actually live it? How many of us practice it at home, in our town or city, and in our community? You can say the words all you want. You can put it on your clothes and print it on your skin.
It's an imposing aspiration, to be sure. But unless you practice it in your everyday life, it means nothing.
Unless you learn to open your soul and give acceptance to those who seem different, or weird, or even frightening, those peace sign earrings are just pieces of plastic and the lyrics of that song you sing are just empty words.
"It isn't enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn't enough to believe in it. One must work at it. "
-Eleanor Roosevelt
So there's my sermon.
It's not that Eleanor Roosevelt's words need any support. They stand strongly on their own.
But my interpretation is one i wanted to share. If nothing else, I hope it makes you think, even it's a fleeting or brief thought.
Well, that's all for now folks.
See ya next week on.... QUOTE O' THE WEEK! :D
P.S. Happy 4th of July!
P.P.S. I lied.
That wasn't brief at all.
:o

WEEK THREE! ( million years later.)
First of all, props to my best friend for opening my eyes to the beauty of what you are about to read.
Holla:)
And now, without further ado;
Your Quote O' the Week!
" Everyone at some point in their lives wakes up in the middle of the night with the feeling that nobody will ever love them, and that they will never have a decent nights sleep again and will spend their lives wandering blearily around a loveless landscape hoping desperately that their circumstances will improve, but suspecting in their heart of hearts that they will remain unloved forever. The best thing to do in these circumstances is to wake up somebody else up, so that they can feel this way too."
- Lemony Snicket
I won't ramble too much on this one,
But what i will say is this:
I LOVE LEMONY SNICKET!
Okay. Now that i got that out of my system.
This is really one to be considered on a personal note.
( That's a really good excuse for me being lazy.)
But in all honesty, this quote is, at least for me, so moving in all its Lemony Snicket Strangeness/Goodness, because it is probably one of the most true, real things I've ever read.
And not only that, it's..
so strange because, yes, it seems true that everyone HAS experienced such a feeling of solitude.
Yet,
if we've all been there,
we're not alone, are we?
Think about it!
( I feel like that was something an evil supervillian cough Green Goblin cough would tell a certain super arachnid when proposing a diabolical plan for teaming up against the world)
That was probably really confusing if you've never seen Spiderman.
But I promise, i have no such wicked intentions.
Only to impart a little piece of Snicket wisdom, and ramble a little :)
See ya next week on... QUOTE O' THE WEEK!

WEEK FOUR
" Being practical is the most commonly followed path to mediocrity. "
- Will Smith.
Oh Will.
Your awesome-ness never ceases to amaze me.
First your were the freshest of princes, now you even have your own awesome little babies.
Infecting the world with awesome sauce!
Although i have to say it is somewhat disappointing to have to come to terms with the fact that Will isn't perpetually nineteen.
Anyway.
In some ways, I am far from "practical"
Confession: I talk to plants when i walk home from school.
I like to believe that magic actually exists.
I have not, and will never, lose the child in me that could play in her backyard for hours with only her imagination for company. ( Gee, that sounds depressing. But i mean it in the best of ways. )
On a perhaps more sane note, i find being practical is most commonly grouped with negatives. With the words like "can't" and phrases such as "that will never happen."
But to me, this universe is infinite. I will always believe in more than a "practical reality". Because the being limited is the real bullshit.
That was intense.
To conclude.
I think a sprinkle of insanity (the good kind), and a little ( or a lot ) of impractically, can make for a life of magic when mixed with the right ingredients.
:D
Woo-hoo!
